2026 Main Award Judges

  • Heather Hutchings - Lead Judge

    Heather Hutchings has been business coaching for 28 years, with speciality areas in strategy and focus planning, objectives, goal setting and implementation. As Heather puts it, business is what she does and business is all she knows.

    Heather started her journey with the Electra Business Awards as an assessor in 2015 and in 2019 Heather became the lead assessor. Heather has been on the BKH board for 6 years and has been very involved with the establishment of the new Business and Innovation awards alongside Antony Young and Chris Barber. Heather took on the position of the Business Awards mentor in 2022.

  • Tod Cooper

    A former NZ diplomat, Tod Cooper has cemented himself as a commercial leader both in New Zealand and globally, including consulting to some of the world's largest space tech companies. Tod is currently the Director of Procurement for the Department of Corrections, a Board Director for Transparency International New Zealand, and the Australia New Zealand Membership Committee representative for the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, for which he holds Fellow status. Married with three daughters, Tod is an avid sports nut and has developed an expensive interest in racing cars (legally on tracks).

  • Bronwyn Lord

    With over two decades of business management experience, including 13 years managing over 100 employees as a McDonald’s franchisee, and 18 years implementing the KiwiHost training programmes, Nevis Training owner Bronwyn Lord has helped hundreds of organisations in New Zealand and across the globe enrich and reshape their cultures.

    Through collaboration with businesses dedicated to fostering and maintaining positive, engaging customer experiences, Nevis Training delivers unparalleled customer service, superior customer experiences, and cultivates self-assured, dynamic leaders.

    One of Bronwyn’s key strengths is an innate talent for deciphering the intricacies of a company’s challenges and addressing them. She engages in transparent conversations with business owners and key staff members to identify the strengths and areas of improvement and uses these insights to formulate meticulously customised training solutions. As a result, the training delivered targets every problem area and leverages every existing strength to create profound change.

  • Scott Houston

    Scott Houston was the founder and CEO of GreenButton, an award-winning global cloud computing software company. GreenButton was acquired by Microsoft in May 2014 and Scott now works with other Hi-Tech companies that are expanding offshore. During his time at GreenButton the company won many accolades including NZ Emerging Hi Tech company of the year, Fastest Growing Tech company in the Deloitte Fast 500 and a number of Innovation awards. Scott was also a finalist in the E & Y Entrepreneur of the Year awards in 2012 and named an "Innovation Hero" by the Innovation Council in 2015..

    Previous to his time at GreenButton Scott was the NZ Regional Manager for Silicon Graphics, Chief Technical Officer at Weta Digital for the "Lord of the Rings" movies and Founder of the New Zealand Supercomputing Center.

    Scott was recently CTO and on the board of Seequent which was acquired by Bentley Systems in 2021 for NZ$1.5bn. Since then he has been working with New Zealand based AI companies including Fingermark and Arcanum AI. He is also a NZTE Beachheads Advisor and has just published his first novel (ADA) about an AI that becomes sentient.

  • Antony Young

    Antony had an international career in media and communications with advertising company Saatchi & Saatchi, and spent 20 years running advertising agencies in New York and London before returning back to New Zealand in 2016.  He has been an assessor for the Electra Business Awards, and a Board member of the Business Kapiti Horowhenua since 2019.  He was also chair of the Horowhenua Taste Trail, which was a recipient of three Electra Business Awards.  Antony co-owns The Media Lab, Wellington’s largest independent media agency.   

  • Jordan Roebuck

    Jordon Roebuck is a Director at Finman Accounting & Business Advisory, where he is known as a problem solver, future‑proofer, and trusted advisor to clients.   • Helene Judge

    Helene Judge is the Owner Operator of Kāpiti Business Projects that helps businesses improve their operations and grow with practical and affordable advice, tools, and solutions. Working with Kāpiti Business Projects means you get access to Helene, a business development specialist in Kāpiti along with her team of professional contractors. They help enterprising people drive their business forward with innovative knowledge and business experience throughout the Kāpiti Coast, Wellington Region and Horowhenua.

    Helene is based in Paraparaumu and also operates the Electra Business Breakfast, is the Campaign Manager for the annual fundraising event for rangatahi, Kapiti Run for Youth, and is Co-owner of the Kapiti Food Fair which is working towards charitable status. She is a proud member of the Kāpiti community and is a Member of the Kāpiti Coast Chamber of Commerce who helped to establish the Women in Business group that continues to operate successfully today. She is a past Board Member of Kāpiti Retirement Trust, one of Kāpiti's largest employers with a charitable purpose.

  • Warren Sue

    Warren has worked across creative, digital and technology businesses for more than 20 years, with experience spanning operations, service delivery, leadership and business growth. He has worked with founder-led businesses, agencies, government organisations and product teams, helping bring clarity, structure and momentum when things get busy or start to feel stretched.

    His background includes leading teams, managing client relationships, improving business performance and helping organisations connect strategy with practical action. Much of his work involves helping businesses clarify direction, align teams, identify priorities and turn ideas into practical plans.

    Warren brings a broad view across leadership, operations, customer experience and delivery, making him well placed to assess strategy, direction and how organisations translate intent into action.

  • Martin Bosley - Hospitality, Entertainment & Tourism

    Martin Bosley is one of New Zealand’s finest chefs. 

    Living by the philosophy that we should eat what’s in season, what’s local, and what’s fresh, he has been bestowed with every major food award in the country.  With a career spanning more than four decades, Martin has contributed food columns to publications such as The Listener. For 13 years he was the food columnist for Air New Zealand’s in-flight magazine Kia Ora and now writes a regular column for Cuisine. He has released two critically acclaimed cookbooks, Martin Bosley Cooks and Martin Bosley, appears regularly on radio, television, and at food festivals in New Zealand and around the world; and has been commissioned by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise as a Chef Ambassador to Shanghai, Hong Kong, Japan and San Francisco. He appears monthly on Radio New Zealand’s Afternoons with Jesse Mulligan and with Wallace Chapman on The Panel.

    Because he’s dancing as fast as he can, Martin is also a Councillor for the Greytown Ward, South Wairarapa District Council, where he brings his passion for community, sustainability, and local enterprise to the forefront of regional decision making.

    Unequivocally committed to New Zealand’s food culture, Martin co-founded Wellington’s iconic City Market, a weekly food and wine market showcasing Wellington’s artisan and bespoke producers. For 11 years he has run the Remutaka Prison ‘Gate to Plate’ event as part of Wellington on a plate, providing training to long-term prisoners and supporting their transition into employment upon release. Most recently, he was the patron of Cohort 50, the Department of Corrections newest officers.

    Known for his love of all things piscine, he owns Yellow Brick Road, a seafood company dedicated to bridging the gap between those who catch and those who cook. On Saturday mornings, you’ll find him at the Crop Up Market in Greytown, selling fresh seafood and connecting directly with the local community.

    Martin embraces and champions the efforts of New Zealand’s winemakers, farmers, fishers, and artisans. As such, he is a leading contributor to the development of a broad, rich and exciting New Zealand cuisine – one that reflects a country of diverse multicultural tastes and stellar produce. 

  • Lawrence Kirby - Not for Profit, Community & Public Services

    Lawrence is the current Managing Director of the Kāpiti Impact Group. 

    His 30+ year experience in the not-for-profit/ for purpose/ charitable and community sector involves both operational leadership/management and governance as a Chairperson and Trustee.

    He is a former Deputy Mayor of the Kāpiti Coast District and has served 12 years on School Boards in Kāpiti including 9 years as Board Chair. He also serves nationally as a Trustee of Acts Churches NZ which includes governance roles for many Trusts across NZ.

    Lawrence is passionate about thriving communities and loves seeing organisations thrive and excel in their area of purpose and passion.

  • Bryan Gundersen - Professional and Business Services or Technology

    Bryan Is a legal and business consultant. He retired as an independent commercial barrister of the High Court in June 2022 having been, until 31 March 2013, a Partner in the Wellington office of the New Zealand national law firm, now known as Dentons Kensington Swan. He served as Managing Partner of the Commercial Advisory division, Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Director, of the law firm and specialised in Corporate and Commercial Law and Competition/Regulatory Law.

    Bryan is the immediate past Chairman of the Kapiti Youth Employment Foundation (commonly called Work Ready Kapiti). He was a member of the executive board of trustees of the Enterprise New Zealand Trust (2004-16). He was Director of Wellington Rugby Football Union (1998-2004) and served as Chairman of the Audit & Financial Subcommittee and Commercial Subcommittee; a member of the Advisory Board, VIP Transport, Internal Affairs Department (1992-96); and, Advisory Board, QEC Enterprises, Internal Affairs Department (1990-96). Bryan was also a member of the New Zealand Council of the Institute of Directors (2008-2010) and Chairman of the Wellington Branch Committee of the Institute of Directors (2006-2010).

  • Brian Elliott - Construction and Trades

    Brian Elliott is a founding Principal of Designgroup Stapleton Elliott and is the founding Chairman of Designgroup New Zealand. He has served the New Zealand Institute of Architects in several capacities and was National President from 1997 to 1999. Brian holds a Bachelor of Architecture with Honours from Auckland University, is a Life Fellow and Past President of the NZIA and holds an NZIA Award of Honour.

    With over 40 years’ experience working for clients throughout New Zealand and Australia, Brian is a recognised expert in the Education sector. He is an Education Planner working across all education sectors, including ECE centres, Primary and Secondary schools through to entire Tertiary Education campus planning throughout New Zealand. He has been appointed by the NZ Government to a number of educational organisations, including Early Childhood and Tertiary Boards and working parties.

  • John Denton - Manufacturing, Production & Processing

    I am a retired Chartered Accountant. I obtained an Accountancy Degree from Victoria University in Wellington. After qualifying I have worked for PWC in Wellington and then Unilever Plc in London. After returning to NZ, my wife Diane and I moved to Levin where we purchased a 420-acre farm, and I started the accountancy firm Fluker Denton with John Fluker in 1990.

    Since retiring in 2016, I became a Trustee of Te Puna Whai MaTauranga based in Levin (a 

    tertiary education organisation previously known as HLC providing workforce training and education and social services), a Justice of the Peace, and Chairman of the Summit Body Corporate based in Thorndon, Wellington.

    My interests are in travel, tramping, golf and our family and grandchildren.

  • Chris Wilkinson - Retail

    Chris Wilkinson is a leading authority on retail strategy and urban regeneration with over 30 years of experience driving the economic success of consumer destinations. Chris specialises in helping progressive local councils and private sector leaders adapt town and city centers to meet the changing needs of modern businesses and their customers. His core expertise spans strategic advisory, sustainable economic modelling, and performance optimisation through deep consumer insights and change management.

  • Sally Duxfield

    With over 35 years of experience in leadership coaching, including a decade as a military officer, Sally empowers entrepreneurs, peak performers, elite sports teams, and industry leaders to cultivate extraordinary cultures, articulate and achieve their visions, and sustain peak performance.

    As a speaker, Sally inspires individuals and organizations to prioritize wellness by delving into the neuro-physiological impact of stress on performance and wellbeing. Her direct and humorous approach delivers insightful, actionable strategies that resonate with audiences.

    Sally’s expertise lies in the science of sleep and its pivotal role in athletic and professional success. She specializes in designing environments with optimal lighting and layouts to enhance recovery, performance, and overall wellbeing. Her passion includes consulting on the creation of elite athlete villages, residential halls, and hotel environments that maximize sleep quality and performance through neuroscience-based environmental strategies.
